Purpose of Research

Our research is pioneering the fundamentals of single-molecule science. We develop novel single-molecule analysis techniques using advanced nanodevices, fabricated through cutting-edge nanotechnology, to investigate properties such as electrical conductance, temperature, heat, and structure at the ultimate single-molecule limit. Building on this foundational technology, we are developing practical applications. These include single-molecule DNA, RNA, and peptide sequencers to enable personalized medicine, as well as rapid diagnostics capable of detecting and identifying individual viruses and bacteria.Through our comprehensive research—spanning from basic science to applied solutions—we aim to create transformative bio-innovations that contribute to a safe, secure, and healthy society.
