Development of biosensors and brain-type devices using functional oxides

Purpose of Research

Focusing on interesting oxide materials that exist stably and safely in nature and exhibit multifunctional properties such as electrical, dielectric, magnetic, and optical properties, we are developing new functions by fabricating high-quality single-crystal thin film and nanostructure growth technology. We are conducting research on the development of biological sensors (biogas sensors, magnetic sensors), brain-shaped memory elements, and neuromorphic devices.

Subjects of Reseach

Development of ultra-sensitive biological gas sensor for disease and physical condition monitoring
Search for gas biomarkers
Development of brain-type memory/neuromorphic devices based on spin glasses
Development of magnon (spin waves) high-sensitive magnetic sensor
Multifunctional physical properties (magnetism/dielectricity) in inhomogeneously strained materials
