Purpose of Research

We aim novel biomaterials and medical devices. We develop new injectable hydrogels, hydrogel beads, non-woven sheet and gel sponges composed of natural polymers such as hyaluronic acid, gelatin, and albumin or synthetic polymers such as dendritic polymers. We applied these materials to drug delivery for peritoneal dissemination, methothelioma, and liver cirrhosis, tissue engineering of islets and bones, and medical devices such as anti-peritoneal adhesion barriers and hemostats. Based on chemical engineering, material engineering, and biochemical engineering, we collaborate with medical doctors for future clinical applications.

Subjects of Reseach

Development of in situ cross-linkable hydrogels for medical uses
Development of nano- and microparticles for medical uses
Biodegradable sheets and films for medical uses
Drug delivery, Tissue engineering, Minimally invasive treatment

Summary

Development of novel biomaterials and their applications for medical devices
